The Retail Sales Index tracks the overall amount of goods sold by retailers. This figure is calculated on a year-over-year basis. This metric is reported on a monthly basis by Eurostat.

In May 2017 the indicator increased to 4.2% from 3.3% the previous month. This figure was at its historical lows of -9.0% in Jul 1999 and at its highs of 9.5% in Nov 2000.
