The Japanese household spending tracks the change on various household expenditures like food, housing, utilities, furniture, clothing, health and other related expenses every month versus the same month the previous year. The statistic is published monthly by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

In May 2017, the Japanese household spending fell by 0.10% versus the same month the previous year. Historically the index fell the most by -10.6% in March 2015, whereas it rose the most by 7.2% in March 2014.
