The German Retail Sales MoM index depicts a combined figure of retail goods and service sales of the current month versus the same month a year ago. The index is characterized by seasonality and is considered as an economic health indicator. The index is published monthly by the Federal Statistical Office.

| Retail Sales increased by 4.8% in May 2017 versus the same month a year ago beating the consensus estimate of 2.5%. Historically the index reached a historical low of – 7.8% in February 2009 and a historical high of 9.7% in February 2009. |
