The Japanese foreign bond investment index measures the net capital inflow or outflow from selling or buying foreign securities by residents. A positive number indicates capital inflow from the sale of foreign securities, whereas a negative number indicates capital outflows from buying foreign securities. The statistic does not consider the actions of the bank of Japan. The statistic is published on a weekly basis by the Japanese Ministry of Finance.

| During the week ended 6th of July 2017, inflows from Japanese foreign bond investments amounted to 839.5 JPY billion versus – 772 JPY billion in the previous week. The inflows reached a historical high of 2.54 JPY trillion in July 2016 and a historical low of -3.072 trillion in April 2015. |
