Do not be surprised if you see cryptocurrency on your television screen soon: popular crypto Youtuber and investor Jason Appleton is set to launch his own Bitcoin television series this coming June.
Known on Youtube as Crypto Crow, Appleton has announced he signed an agreement with American television network CBS to air 13 episodes of his show in select markets “as a test market in hopes of spreading nationally.” The series will be funded entirely by Bitcoin, and will cover topics including initial coin offerings (ICOs), exchange trading, crypto mining and investing, price predictions, and what the future holds in store for cryptocurrency. Appleton elaborated:
“Each episode will feature educational information focused on helping newcomers to the crypto space such as researching, investing and how to stay secure in their efforts while featuring ICO and cryptocurrency companies and how they affect the industry.”
While Appleton’s show will initially only air on a CBS channel in New York, the crypto community is embracing the opportunity as one that will bring crypto another step closer to widespread adoption by bringing cryptocurrency to mainstream audiences.
Bitcoin gains recognition
Recently, cryptocurrency has made quite the number of cameo appearances in popular shows. Just this week, HBO’s Silicon Valley featured an ICO, even pointing out some of the risks associated with crypto startups. Last November, The Big Bang Theory, which also airs on CBS, had an episode entitled “The Bitcoin Entanglement.” Increasing references to Bitcoin on television suggests that interest in cryptocurrency keeps growing, and will most likely continue to do so in the months to come.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $9,357, marking a 0.75% price gain in the last 24 hours. After a lackluster trading session with modest gains on Wednesday, it appears Bitcoin is slowly making a comeback as it battles to hold ground above $9,300. If it holds above this mark, Bitcoin is expected to break $9,400 soon.
