U.S. Manufacturing PMI

Manufacturing PMI, Purchasers Managers Index measures the activity of purchasing managers in the manufacturing sector, and is a seasonally adjusted monthly index, released by the IHS Markit company, which provides economic and financial information for major industries and markets. Higher than expected readings for the Index show an expansion for the manufacturing sector and are positive for the US Dollar.

The United States Manufacturing PMI

The United States Manufacturing PMI latest reading for the month of June of 2017 was 52.0, a 9-month low price, lower than the expectation of 52.1 and the previous reading of 52.1. Any reading above 50.0 shows expansion for the manufacturing sector, but for 2017 and the 1st semester the index is showing decreasing growth, as it peaked in January with a reading of 55.0, and has fallen ever since. This weak expansion could be an early indicator of slower business and economic growth. The Index had an all-time high reading of 57.90 in 2014, and an all-time low reading of 50.70 in 2016.
