U.S. ISM New York Index

ISM New York Index is measuring the business conditions among firms in the New York City area, and it is monthly released by The Institute for Supply Management-New York. A higher than expected readings is positive for the local economy of New York, as it indicates increased business activity. The monthly report has 3 parts, Current Business Conditions, the Six-Month Outlook and the NY-BCI Index, which are all seasonally adjusted, and provides useful information for further financial analysis in sectors about employment, quantity of purchases, prices paid, current revenues and expected revenues of the firms participating in the survey.

The United States ISM New York Index

The United States ISM New York Index latest reading for Business Conditions in June of 2017 was 55.5, the Six-Month Outlook was 64.5 and the NY-BCI Index was 739.1. Only the reading of Six-Month Outlook was lower than the previous reading in May, so the actual readings show improved business activity in the New York area. The ISM New York Index for Current Business Conditions has a long-term average of 55.5% for the period of years 1993-2017, and readings over 50% show faster business activity and economic growth. The current readings shows improved business activity compared to the previous month, May of 2017. The all-time high reading for the Current Business Conditions was 88.80% in December of 2003, and the all-time low reading was 23.40% in October of 2001.
