U.S. Construction Spending

The Construction Spending is an indicator which shows the total spending activity on all types of constructing activity, public and private, industrial and non-industrial, residential or non-residential, state and local or federal. This indicator is released by the US Census Bureau on a monthly basis and in 2 different forms, one that is seasonally adjusted and one that is not seasonally adjusted. It shows also construction spending by geographical regions and it first started in 1964. As the housing market is very important for the health and expansion of US economy, high readings of the Construction Spending are considered to be positive for the US Dollar as well. It also includes various costs and spending both on new types of constructions and improvements.

The reading for latest Construction Spending released on Monday 3rd July 2017 was 0.0%, lower than the consensus reading of 0.3% but higher than the previous reading of -0.7%. In US Dollars, the latest Construction Spending was $1.2 trillion. The indicator reached the all-time high price of 5.90% during April of 1978, and its al-time low price of -4.80% during February of 1975. The next release is on Tuesday August 1st 2017.
