U.S. Case-Shiller Home Price Index

The Case–Shiller Home Price Index is reported monthly by Standard and Poor’s. The index is a measure of residential real estate prices and tracks values both nationally and in 20 key metropolitan areas. In April 2017 the index grew 5.7 percent, a 0.2 decrease from the previous month and 0.2 lower than expected. Among the leader in terms of growth are Seattle, Portland and Dallas with 12.9, 9.3 and 8.4 percent increase respectively. The index averaged 158.63 Index Points in the period between 2000 and 2017. An all-time high reading of 206.52 Index Points was recorded in July 2006, while an all-time minimum appeared in January 2000 and was equal to 100 Index Points.
