Average Weekly Hours is a measure of hours worked by an average employee in one week. It can be calculated by dividing the number of hours worked by all employees in one country by the number of people in the labor force. The workload will depend of the number of factors, with a state of the general economy being one of them. Many people would lose their jobs during the downturns, thus bringing the readings of this indicator down. Multiplied by the Average Hourly Earnings it will equal to the weekly salary of an average employee.
United States Average Weekly Hours
This indicator for the United Stated remained relatively unchanged since 2011, when the global financial crisis officially ended. It since revolved around the 34.4 mark. Average Weekly Hours were equal to 34.4 in April and May 2017. The average indicator value from 2006 to 2017 was also close at 34.33. Average Weekly Hours are a fundamental factor and are not subject to change.
