Unemployment Rate

The Unemployment rate tracks the employment conditions. It is calculated as the number or unemployed who want to be employed divided by the number of labor force. This metric is reported on a monthly basis by Eurostat.

Euro Area Unemployment Rate

In May 2017 the indicator remained at 9.3% in line with the previous month. The figure however surpassed the consensus of 9.2%. This figure was at its historical lows of 7.3% in Oct 2007 and at its highs of 12.10% in March 2013.
