Japan Housing Starts

The Japanese Housing Starts index is an economic indication that indicates the health of the construction sector. The index tracks the new housing units construction starts every month, versus the same month one year ago. The statistic is published by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).

The Japan Housing Starts index fell by 0.3% in May 2017 versus the same month the previous year. The index hit an all-time high of 67.63 in March 1972 and an all-time low of -43.96 in September 2007.
