Foreign Exchange Reserves

The Japanese Exchange Reserves are foreign assets in the form of gold or foreign currencies like the US Dollar and other which are held and controlled by the central bank of Japan. The bank uses reserves to fund it own currency liabilities and as a tool to enforce its monetary policy. The statistic is published on a monthly basis by the Japanese Ministry of Finance.

In June 2017, the Japanese Foreign Exchange Reserves fell to 1.24 USD trillion from 1.25 trillion USD in May, representing a decrease of -0.16%. Historically, foreign exchange reserves reached a high of 1.3 USD trillion in January 2012, whereas in September 1957 foreign reserves hit a low of 455 USD million.
