Unemployed Persons statistic measures the number of people actively seeking for a job but currently remain unemployed. Lower numbers are positive for the economy and might indicate a growing economy, whereas the opposite scenario may indicate anaemic growth or worse. Historically, the figure reached an all-time high of 1.748 million in November 1992 and an all-time low of 691.50 thousand in March 1976. The figure is published by Statistics Canada on a monthly basis.
