Government Bond 10Y

A government bond supports government spending through the issue of bonds and is denominated in the domestic currency. Sovereign bonds are national government bonds issued in foreign currencies. High yields usually reflect negative expectations by investors regarding the likelihood of government debt being repaid whereas low yields reflect exactly the opposite. Historically, the Canada’s Government Bond 10Y reached an all-time high of 12.44% in March of 1985 and a record low of 0.95% in September of 2016.
