The Consumer Price Index or CPI measures the change in the prices of a basket of goods and services. High index values indicate inflationary trends, whereas low values might indicate deflationary trends. The index is published on a monthly basis by Statistics Canada. Historically the index reached an all-time high of 130.90 in October 2017 and a record low of 12.10 in January 1950.
