Leading Economic Index

The Leading Economic Index measures the economic activity in the Australian economy by combining several variables such as the ASX 200, bond yields, commodities, unemployment, housing market and more. This metric is reported on a monthly basis by Westpac-Melbourne Institute.

In May 2017 the indicator remained flat compared to previous month. This figure was at its historical lows of -1.07% in Dec 2008 and at its highs of 0.54% in Apr 1975.
