Consumer Confidence

The Consumer Confidence index tracks the consumers’ insights regarding financial conditions, future state of economic and buying conditions. The survey is based on more than 1,200 households. Levels above 100 indicating that there is optimism regarding the current and future conditions. This metric is reported on a monthly basis by Westpac-Melbourne Institute.

In July 2017 the indicator increased to 96.6 from the previous month which was at 96.2. This figure was at its historical lows of 64.61 in Nov 1990 and at its highs of 123.94 in May 2007.
